Trilogy
I think (but don't hold me to this) that my next book is going to be part one of a trilogy. I'm 65,000 words in and I realize the end is rapidly approaching but I have soooooo much more to say.Now some might respond to such a sensation by revamping the length of the novel itself. But for some reason I'm only comfortable in the 60,000 to 70,000 word range. Anything longer and I start to lose threads and get generally confused and rambly. Three short-ish novels is conceivable to me. One very long novel? Not.Now here's the tricky part. I think the second book is going to be a prequel, which means there'll be a two-year lag between the ending of the first novel and the resumption of the rest of the story. Is that being too unkind to readers? Should I worry about such things? Or can I just go where the story takes me?
