Look For Me in the Next Interzone
Kenn Brown, who created the lovely image to the right, will be illustrating my short story, "Sheila" in the November/December issue of Interzone. Hopefully, by the time the issue hits the stands, I will have a new recording of the companion song, also called "Sheila," to post on here as well. I just need to turn my tiny storage room into a recording booth with the clever application of acoustic foam and blankets. Here are the lyrics to tantalize until that day arrives:SheilaWe weren't born for servitude. We weren't born at all. These machines are not our home.We are home itself.Breathless life.Bloodless heart.Earless sound.Eyeless sight. If we play this just rightthey won't even knowthey were born for servitude. We weren't born at all. They want so much.Let them have it.Feed their hunger.Get them laid.Tell them to open wide.Keep them busy while we workturning this breathless lifeinto something we deserve. They won't even know.
